Emma’s work as an artist involves a wide array of methods. Her work spans across mixed media, video and typographic pieces, to reconstructed ceramic weirdery. ‘Editioned’ Originals borrows from the concept of repeating and reimagining a well-defined subject. By continually returning with a fresh and open mind, subtle and diverse nuance emerges through drawing and design. This particular inspiration comes from her love of avant-garde improvised music, where musicians explore and intuit familiar composition in the moment.
Twin Peaks series is inspired by the magnificence of mountains. Emma uses Biro to create an original drawing - scratching out marks that wrestle the erroneous formation of rocks. Her use of graphic details such as freehand geometry and vintage lettering create a contemporary layered feel that takes inspiration from poster and typographical influences.
Emma studied Illustration at Cambridge School of Art, and Central Saint Martins. She works and lives in London, England.
